Gold Winner in Mpls. St. Paul Magazine’s 2026 Best of the Twin Cities Readers’ Poll
We have some exciting news to share — Luther Automotive has been named the Gold Winner in the Auto Dealership category in Mpls. St. Paul Magazine’s 2026 Best of the Twin Cities Readers’ Poll.
What makes this award special is simple: it comes straight from you. There are no judges, no industry panels—just real Twin Cities residents voting for the businesses they trust. Earning Gold in a field of 160 categories is something we don’t take lightly, and we’re genuinely grateful.
A Pattern Built on Customer Service
This recognition is part of a larger story. Luther Automotive has earned multiple Gold awards in the Star Tribune’s Minnesota’s Best Readers’ Choice Awards for five consecutive years, winning in categories including:
- Best New Car Dealership
- Best Used Car Dealership
- Best Auto Service Center
- Best Auto Body Shop
- Best Customer Service
These honors come from one of Minnesota’s largest consumer-voted competitions, with more than one million votes cast annually.
Individual Luther dealerships have also received manufacturer-level recognition, including the Mazda President’s Club Award, which is presented to dealerships that deliver exceptional customer service while achieving top sales performance among similarly sized stores.
And we’re not done yet. Luther Automotive is actively pursuing a sixth consecutive year of recognition in the Star Tribune’s Minnesota’s Best Awards, with the 2026 winners scheduled to be announced this June.
The Experience You Deserve
Buying a vehicle is a big decision. We believe the process should feel as good as the vehicle you drive home in. From your first visit to every service appointment that follows, our goal remains the same: to provide an experience you would confidently recommend to friends and family.
Founded in 1952, Luther Automotive has remained family-owned, guided by a philosophy of serving others while representing more than 27 automotive brands across 50+ locations throughout the Upper Midwest.
That foundation hasn’t changed—and neither has our commitment to you.
Thank you, Twin Cities. We’ll keep earning it.

Landers Chevrolet of Norman Helps Tornado Victims
In April of 2024, an EF-3-rated tornado hit the small town of Sulphur, Oklahoma. The tornado flattened 70 buildings in the area.
Shelly Courtney, a senior at Oklahoma University, was visiting Sulphur the night the tornado hit. Both her father’s truck and her car were destroyed and needed replacement, which is how they came to Chevrolet of Norman.
“During the sales process, they mentioned they were from Sulphur,” said Kody Walker, Sales Consultant. “Some of my fiancée’s family live there so I spend a lot of time there. It hit close to home; we connected over that.”
After talking with them about the town and their experience, Walker learned their house had been damaged along with their vehicles. After bringing up the situation to the Finance Manager, J.T. Moore, and General Manager Shawn Groff, they all agreed to give them a gift card to help them get back on their feet.
“Our GM talks about rolling out the red carpet as much as possible, not just selling cars but an experience,” said Walker. “People remember how they’re treated and establishing that type of positive emotional connection has incredible mileage.” While the family was in the finance office, Groff went out to get a gift card, and they presented it to them when they were done. “When we gave them the gift card, her dad Cleve lit up and was very thankful. He immediately let Shelly have the gift card,” said Walker. “Nothing can replace what they lost but I think it meant a lot to them.”
“I was genuinely surprised to receive anything other than my car,” said Courtney. “I couldn’t be more thankful to the people at Landers for helping me and my father after such a difficult time.”
This is one way Luther dealerships are Driven to Serve our guests. There are countless ways to find these opportunities but sometimes the best way is the most obvious.
“The easiest way to find these opportunities is just listening to customers and helping when they need it,” said Moore. “Small gestures go a long way. It will make someone’s day when they need it most.”

Service Consultant’s Food Truck Appears on WCCO

Thomas Bady, Service Consultant at Brookdale Chevrolet Buick GMC, runs Flame Mobile Kitchen, a food truck that specializes in smoked meats.
He started working on the truck two years ago to help his friend, Tommy McNeal, who runs the umbrella company, with the hope that he would start his own food truck one day.
“I wanted to learn the business, and it was a great way to get exposed to the operations without just buying my own food truck,” said Bady. “I always loved cooking or helping out my parents in the kitchen as a kid, so this was a great chance, and I learned a lot.”
Before the season started last year, McNeal offered him the opportunity to run it by himself so he could focus on the catering side of Flame Mobile Kitchen.
It was a little scary, but I seized on the opportunity,” said Bady. “My first event was at a farmers’ market in Robbinsdale, and we just built on the season from there.”
They focus on smoked meats and barbeque, which is what they started with. Now, their most well-known items are the salmon sandwich and authentic-style tacos. They worked eight events over the summer of 2024, including the Shelby Avenue Jazz Festival, where they were selected as the healthy food option.
At the end of the season, Flame Mobile Kitchen won the “Tasty Choice of the People” award at the Black Business Ball, where Shayla Reaves, WCCO reporter, was a co-host of the gala.
In November, WCCO invited Bady, McNeal, and Chef Darren to be a part of their third annual Grateful-Giving Initiative. Flame Mobile Kitchen selected three families in need and gifted them with a Thanksgiving basket. They also brought some fall-inspired dishes to share. “This summer, I’m looking forward to going to more events that I missed out on last summer because they get booked up early,” said Bady. “I’m getting a chance to express myself and connect with people and put a smile on their faces with a bite, it’s incredible.”
Bady made sure to recognize his wife and family. His 16-year-old son Elijah helps run sales on the truck and his wife helps him prep for the weekend.
“I couldn’t do this without the support of my wife,” Bady added. “I work full-time at Luther, and I love my job here, it’s a great group. I do the food truck on the weekends, and I couldn’t get that done without the support of my loving wife and family.”
If you want to connect with Flame Mobile Kitchen, you can follow them on Instagram @Flame_Mobile_Kitchen and Facebook, where they post updates on upcoming events.

OMG. So Awkward: First All Staff Communications Training
For the first time ever, Luther Auto hosted its first all staff, in-person training for metro dealerships.
“When looking at our legal risk across the company, we realized that many of our customer and employee issues can be boiled down to miscommunication,” said Kate Uding. “Good communication and records can save everyone volumes of time once things go wrong—it is really a gift to our future selves.” The training was viewed as successful by the training team, with over 1,200 metro employees attending sessions over two weeks.
“I walked away with a lot of talking points for my sales team,” said Tim Gaier, Hudson Chrysler Sales Manager. “I struggle to help my team understand why a phone call is more appropriate. I plan on reiterating the principles talked about in this presentation that will hopefully encourage them to make better decisions and not always pick the easiest way.”
Managers are hoping to get condensed versions of this training to refresh teams on this presentation. Training teams will visit Landers and Schulte dealerships to provide this training as well.

Brookdale Chrysler Completes Multi-Year Revamp
The renovations at Brookdale Chrysler started in the summer of 2023. The entire building was revamped, including its parking lot and exterior.
Every area was completely gutted to make way for this new Chrysler design. The revamp started with service, resulting in the service drive being temporarily placed on one half of the showroom. It moved on to redoing the parking lot, then redesigning the offices and sales floor. It finished with the exterior of the building, the customer lounge, and the parts department.
The new space boasts a simple, yet sophisticated design that makes the vehicles the main focus. One notable element in the showroom is the Jeep Cloud, which is designed to highlight the Jeep Wagoneer. Included in the Cloud is the Wagoneer Certified Ten Customer Promises. “That’s been the bi

ggest sell for a lot of the customers,” said Adam Colon, Sales Manager.
Outlets were also installed throughout the showroom and delivery bay so fully electric and hybrid vehicles can be charged inside. Charging stations were also put in the parking lot for easy charging.
“Everyone absolutely loves it,” said Colon. “We’ve gotten great feedback from everyone so far, from customers to people that work here, to people from Chrysler.”
With the completion of their renovations, Chrysler management has named Brookdale Chrysler as one of the new flagship dealerships of the Midwest, meaning other dealers will visit to see how they can update their dealership.

New General Manager at Bloomington Acura Subaru
Bryon Fagen has been named as the new General Manager of Bloomington Acura Subaru, replacing Charlie Rassouli, who has transitioned into a new role at Motors Management.

“Charlie was a great leader,” said Fagen. “He’s helped point me in the right direction and then showed me new areas to focus on.”
Fagen started selling cars at a former Luther dealership, Luther Hopkins Dodge in 2003. He left the company but came back in 2007, selling cars again at Toyota City before it transitioned to Brookdale Toyota.
“I try to teach everyone that it’s just about being in service to everyone around you,” said Fagen. “Always asking guests if I can answer any questions or get them to the right person with concerns.”
After Brookdale Toyota, Fagen moved to Bloomington Acura Subaru, working in Finance for 12 years. Finally, he moved into a Sales Manager role, then General Sales Manager a year ago. “I want people that are happy to wake up and come to work every day, and I feel like we have that here,” said Fagen. “I’m looking forward to the next chapter.”
Bryon has been married for 12 years and has three kids and one grandson.

Mark Morcomb’s Lasting Legacy
After 30 years of service to Luther Automotive, Mark Morcomb is retiring as VP of Fixed Operations. Morcomb leaves behind an impressive legacy, being the driving force behind many Luther Automotive initiatives, including Luther Glass, Collision, Paintless Dent Repair, APS, the Call Center, and Towing. Mark and the Fixed Operations team’s most innovative accomplishment, the Luther Technical Training Center. The program launched over three years ago and has set Luther apart from every other automotive group in the country. The first class to complete all five modules graduated last summer, with more classes to come.
“While I’m happy for him to set out on his next adventure with Sue, he has been an integral part of our team and we’re going to miss him
!” wrote David Luther. “Mark’s passion, drive, mentorship, compassion, and work ethic are just extraordinary.” Morcomb stepped down at the end of March and Matt Carlson, Service Specialist, has stepped into the role. Carlson started with Luther in 2010 but had been working with Luther previously in a consulting role. “I’ve had a lot of good mentors along the way, from sergeants in the army to people in business. But lots of people have helped me along the way at Luther, mainly Mark and the entire Fixed Ops team,” said Carlson.
Carlson has worked in service support since joining and has always worked closely with Morcomb. “The number one thing I’ve learned from Mark is being the neutral person,” said Carlson. “Even when we were doing really good, he always asked how we can be better and kept us humble. And when things were going bad, he was always the calm in the storm.”
Outside of work, Matt loves to garden in his 10,000-square-foot garden. He germinates and harvests his own plants. He also coaches two basketball teams in Hudson. Thank you Mark Morcomb for your dedicated service to Luther and congrats to Matt Carlson on your new role!
